The Rihanna Effect
“I never wanted to be famous. I just wanted my music to be heard all over the world.”
Third time’s a charm! A smiling Rihanna covers Vogue‘s March 2014 issue for her third time ever gracing the front of fashion’s Bible.
Photographed by Sporting a pixie cut, the singer wears a Louis Vuitton Spring 2014 beaded sheer top and embellished jeans on the cover, with the rest of her editorial seeing her wearing a selection of Spring 2014 looks from Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu, Versace, Maison Martin Margiela and Calvin Klein, for which she dons a white wig.
Rihanna’s a hit-maker for the masses and the designers
The Rihanna Effect was all over the spring collections. Peter Dundas for Pucci showed leather boxer shorts worn with jeweled jackets, and adorned his red-carpet frocks with beaded black harnesses. Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, who has Rihanna starring in his spring ad campaign, showed what amounted to an entire Rihanna wardrobe on his runway: baseball jackets worn with sheer tops and skinny houndstooth pants; eighties-inspired denim minidresses cinched at the waist. Tom Ford’s bejeweled teeny-tiny dresses and thigh-high gladiator sandals said Rihanna loud and clear.
