Untitled #1094
Haute Couture Fashion Week for the season Fall / Winter 2014-15 has began,  here’s everything you need to know about the fascinating world of Couture!
An informed fashionista should know fashion in depthand everything surrounding it so, in view of Couture Fashion Week, I generously giving away the ‘Haute Couture’ facts that you should have in mind.
THE DEFINITION
The «Haute Couture» literally translates as “High Tailoring” and as you might already know, is luxury, sur mesure creations that in their sight you exclaim enthusiastically and wish to wear something similar on your wedding day.
THE HISTORY
As early as  in the 19th century, the Parisian high class turned in Haute Couture to attend the variety of calls, providing them a unique – literally – and impressive appearance. Today is quite the same , and few designers who can meet the standards that are demanded  for the creation of a Haute Couture collection.
HOW MUCH A HAUTE COUTURE CREATION COSTS
Since some pieces require up to 700 hours to create the prices start from £ 8,000 and can reach up to a few million, if you think about the fabrics used rare and the luxurious embroidery which often adorn the evening creations.
WHO MAKES THE HAUTE COUTURE COLLECTIONS.
The  term «Les petite mains» translated as “little hands” and essentially refers to 2,200 seamstresses who “give life” to haute couture creations, remaining usually dedicated to a fashion house for their entire careers.
WHO BUYS THE HAUTE COUTURE CREATIONS.
Nowadays, the main buyers come from Russia, China and the Middle East ..
WHERE DO THE COLLECTIONS PRESENTED
The collections are always shown at the ‘birthplace’ of couture, that in Paris.
WHICH HOUSES HAVE A HAUTE COUTURE COLLECTION
Christian Dior, Chanel, Valentino, Elie Saab and Jean-Paul Gaultier are in the official program presentation at Fashion Week Haute Couture.
HOW PROFITABLE CAN A COUTURE COLLECTION FOR EACH FASHION HOUSE
In fact, houses usually suffer from the couture collections. The colossal costs and discerning clientele (it is estimated that there are 2,000 customers alike worldwide) might best explains why over the last 60 years the number of couture houses has decreased dramatically. In any case, a couture collection is considered by many long investment, enhancing the image of the house and the profile of collections ready-to-wear.

Anna Wintour Sat Second Row at Valentino Fall 2014 Show

Untitled #885
A front row seat during Paris Fashion Week (or any fashion week for that matter) is usually considered to be a pretty big deal, especially at the shows of big name designers. From the Parisian fashion week she could  not be absent Anna Wintour, the editor in Chief of the American Vogue that may deify or leave in oblivion a house in the pages of American fashion books. Could not therefore be missing out from the presentation of the new Valentino collection, where we expected to see her sitting in the front row along with the creative director of Vogue Grace Coddington.
It did not happen, though, exactly like that. The Anna attended the show but sat in the second row behind Amy Astley of Teen Vogue and immediately the news went round the twitter.
Wintour gave more space in the front row to Sarah Mower, who attended the show on behalf of Vogue.com. In the second row also sat the European editor-at-large of the American Vogue Hamish Bowles, who is usually found only in front row. It lays down to no debate. Anna is a real queen.
